Why did we build it?
I am often asked, why on earth would a small Scottish company try to build a search engine? The answer is simply that 1) we knew we could (despite what many naysayers told us), and 2) we had figured out a way to build a better (fairer) search engine business model, also 3) the timing is right with the emerging next generation internet and the growing pressures against the data harvesting models used by the ad-based incumbents.
Why should you use it?
Clearly this is a personal choice. To help you make the choice let me highlight the benefits; we are completely ad-free, we are also subscription-free (so free to use with no ads), we deliver at least the same quality of ranked results that you would expect from Bing, Google or Duck Duck Go, but given there are no ads to distract you or clog your screen, processor, and bandwidth the results are delivered really quickly. Oh, and we are also privacy-preserving (we don’t store any of your personal data such as search terms or follow your clicks). There is no other search engine that can deliver all of these benefits!
